Wash Your Hands
This is so important especially now that we are in Flu season. If you are somewhere that you don’t access to a sink then use hand sanitizer, but using soap and water to clean your hands is best whenever you can. Make it a habit to head straight to the sink as soon as you come home from being out.
Hydrate
Drinking enough water has so many healthy benefits from regulating your body temperature to fighting infections to also improving sleep and your mood. If you don’t like the taste of plain water try adding lemon, or some of your favorite fruits and veggies.
The amount of water you need is based on your weight and level of activity. I would recommend aiming for at least drinking 1/2 an ounce of water for each pound you weigh.
Sleep
Sleep plays such a vital role in your mental and physical health, which is why getting enough quality sleep is crucial. I am very guilty of not getting enough sleep most nights, and when I don’t I suffer the consequences. Your body needs to rest in order to help you fight off infections.
Eat a Balanced Diet
Eating a healthy balanced diet will help support your immune system. Try to eat as much plant based foods in their most natural form, and limit the amount of process foods you eat. If you feed your body junk all day you will feel like junk and your wont be able to fight off anything as easily.
Exercise
Exercising regularly can help support your immune system and help fight off infections. Even if its just going for a walk in the neighborhood, or dancing around the house, just make sure you move your body.
Self Care
It would not be realistic for me to tell you not to stress out about things, because you are going to. So instead of trying not to stress out, learn how to manage the stress by doing things you love. That could be reading a book listening to music or dancing. Whatever you love to do set some time aside to do it.
Take Natural Supplements
My three go to supplements every winter and also throughout the year are Echinacea, Manuka Honey, and Vitamin C. These supplements have been shown to help support your immunes system.
Echinacea
I don’t take this everyday, I usually only take it if i feel like I am getting sick. For instance if my body feels run down or if I wake up with the sniffles, I will take Echinacea capsules or drink some Echinacea Tea.
Vitamin C
I take Vitamin C every day my favorite is the ChildLife liquid as well as the Rainbow Light Gummy Vitamin C slices.
Manuka Honey
Manuka Honey has so many benefits, from wound healing, to digestive help, immune support, and energy-booster are just a few of the many benefits. It has also been shown to have antimicrobial properties.
I recently started incorporated Manuka Honey in my daily routine because of all the health benefits. This article I linked here, is a great article that list 7 benefits of Manuka Honey.
The great thing about Manuka Honey is that you can either have a spoonful of it alone or have it in your favorite food or drink. I usually mix it in with my coffee or tea.
These are all things you can easily incorporate in your family’s day to day life with a little planning
