I have really curly hair so it tends to get pretty dry and damaged pretty easily. I’ve tried a ton of deep conditioner thats available on the market, some of then have been amazing and some of them have sucked pretty badly, but one that never fails me is my homemade DIY Deep conditioner.
This Deep conditioner is amazing for dry hair, Its super easy to make. The best part is that you only need 4 ingredients that you most likely already have all the ingredients in your pantry
Here is What You Will Need
Full Fat Coconut Milk
Coconut Oil
Honey
Conditioner of Your Choice
Ingredients
» 1 Cup Full Fat Coconut Milk
»1/4 Cup Coconut Oil*
»1 Tbs Honey
» 1/3 cup Conditioner of your choice (I love Innersense)
»16 oz Glass container (I love mason jars)
*Coconut oil is solid at at room temperature if you purchase a coconut oil that’s liquid its most likely not pure coconut oil so make sure to double check the ingredients
Directions
Start with melting the coconut oil, I either put it in the hot water bath or place the container under hot running water from the sink, just be careful not to get water mixed in with the coconut oil.
Next add in the honey
Then the conditioner
And lastly the coconut milk.
You will be left with a smooth milky mixture
You could just dump everything in the jar and mix it up all at once but that will take you a lot longer to get rid of all the clumps and have a smooth mixture.
How to Use
I apply this before washing my hair, usually to dry hair from root to end focusing on the ends. I sometimes just leave it on for an entire day or if I don’t have a lot of time I will sit under a dryer for about 20 minutes. You definitely want to wash this out because of all the natural ingredients plus if you sleep with it you will probably end up with a sticky mess on your bed.
I sometimes make double the batch and freeze the rest, the night before deep conditioning my hair I just remove it from the freezer and let it thaw at room temperature. my hair is pretty long as you can see in the picture above so if you have shorter hair you will probably be able to get two uses out of this.
For the days that I just can’t seem to find time to make this because lets face it I am a new mom and my plate is always full, I love this Shea moisture Hair Masque as an alternative. It doesn’t work as well as my DIY one but its the best one I’ve found at a decent price
